A trip into the desert is a must. Wherever you are in the
Kingdom the desert is never far away. An organized trip is always recommended as
some areas of the desert are so big that make it easy to get lost!
The major cities host a number of historical and national
museums which tell about Islam and the countryʼs history. However, if you can only
visit one place in Saudi Arabia, make it Madain Saleh, which rises up from the sands
in a landscape of rare beauty. Although not as dramatic as Petra in Jordan, Madain
Saleh is better preserved with 131 tombs, dating back 2000 years. Itʼs 330km north
of Medina.
Many cities sit on the Sea offering a variety of beach resorts
and hotels. The Corniche road that runs next to the sea is one of the longest in
the world and is a popular destination for families in the evenings. In addition
the Red Sea is one of the best places for diving in the world.
For Saudiʼs a weekend shopping trip is an event for the
whole family. All major cities have modern shopping malls with a mixture of local
and international brands. Some stores and restaurants have sections just for families
and ladies. Stores are open until late in the evening meaning you can findwhat you
want almost any time of the day
